Our StoryIn the year 2006, Dorrien and his wife Janice felt God calling them to create what they would define as a “different Kind of Church”-one that would not necessarily change the message of the church or God but express the message in a more relevant way for those not a part of the church or those who may have left the church for whatever reason. It would be a place where people would feel safe and welcomed to come as they are.
In May 2007, Dorrien and Janice followed God’s direction and with a group of friends formed Compass Community Church. In September 2007, they began hosting gatherings to invite others to learn more about Compass and join in its mission. On November 11, 2007 at 10:30am to 11:30am, Compass held its first Sunday Celebration. Dorrien and Janice truly believe that “as children of God, we all have the ability to impact the lives of others. As each person uses his/her gifts and abilities to serve the people in their spaces, lives can be changed for Christ. As we strive to be “A church of Jesus Christ in Cincinnati,” we strive to live out the words, Love God, Love All People, Grow Ourselves and Change the World. |
Dorrien and Janice have two boys: Alex and Dyson, two dogs: Zoe and Diesel and one cat Ebony.
