Our Pastor - Dr. Dorrien A. Hinsey Sr.
Our lead pastor, Dorrien Hinsey, began his calling in ministry in 1996 while attending American Baptist Seminary in Nashville, TN. After graduating, Dorrien went to work full time in the ministry with his father in the Bahamas for a year before God called him to continue his studies at the Southern Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. While at Southern, Dorrien attained his Masters of Divinity and Doctoral degrees and met his lovely wife Janice. In 2000, Dorrien and Janice moved to Cincinnati, Ohio.
In 2001, Dorrien began serving as the Children’s pastor at the Vineyard Community Church (well known for it’s compelling message on outward focused living) and continued to take on a variety of roles while there.
Dorrien served at VCC for six years and then in October 2006, Dorrien and his wife Janice felt God calling them to create what they would define as a “different kind of church”-one that would not necessarily change the message of the church or God but express the message in a more relevant way for those not a part of the church or those who may have left the church for whatever reason. It would be a place where people would feel safe and welcomed to come as they are.
In May 2007, Dorrien and Janice followed God’s direction and with a group of friends formed Compass Community Church.
