About Compass

Our lead pastor, Dorrien Hinsey, previously served at the Vineyard Community Church in Springdale, Ohio as the pastor of Volunteer Development. In October 2006, Dorrien and Janice felt God leading them to create a different kind of church. One that was different that what they grew up in. It would be a place where people would feel safe and welcomed to come as they are.

In May 2007, Dorrien and Janice followed God’s direction along with a group of friends to partner with the Southern Baptist Association of Cincinnati to form Compass Community Church. In September 2007, Dorrien and his team began hosting gatherings to invite others to learn more about Compass. On November 11, 2007, weekly morning celebrations began at 10:30am.

Janice and I truly believe that we all as “God’s Children” have the ability to impact the kingdom of God by influencing the people that we come in touch with in on a daily basis in our individual lives. We believe that as each person uses their gifts and abilities to serve the lives of people in our world, lives will be changed for Christ.

Compass Community Church desires to create a place where all people feel welcomed. They would be able to come as they no matter what their condition and have space to grow in their relationship with God. Compass is a place that expresses love to all in an authentic environment bringing hope and joy to the lives all we come in contact with.
